David Watson, CET, FCSC, CSP

President

David Watson has been intimately involved in the commercial construction industry for over 25 years.  Initially entering the construction industry as a heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) technician, he ultimately found his niche developing software applications for master specifications. He is the founder of ConSoft International (since merged with Digicon), known for its specialty software applications for the commercial construction document industry, including the "smart" specification system in the 1980s called "Autospec".

David

When Digicon was established, David assumed the position of President, specializing in the management of specification text using popular business word processing software.  David contributed the original MacroSPEC software (now called SpecMacros) which enabled users of Digicon's specification text to more efficiently prepare project specifications.  In 2001, David worked with Norconsult AS to develop Specnique, which is modelled after Norconsult's industry-leading Norwegian specification software.  David is presently heading up Digicon's latest venture into Digicon's Building Information Modelling (BIM) software solution for specifications, called BIMdrive.

Wayne developed and marketed CONSPEC (now called CMS), the first nationally available master specification in Canada in 1977 (introduced 1 year prior to the NMS). That development met with instant acceptance in the Canadian private sector and was followed later by mid-sized and small-sized master specification products in the 1980's. CONSPEC was also converted for use in the USA and marketed nationally as SPECTEXT by CSI and CRSF beginning in 1979.  These master documents lead the industry in master specifications research and development including automated applications for computer usage. His dedicated research and proven technology is apparent in each of the major master specification systems available in North America today. His involvement and recognition internationally provides the strong foundation and resolve to ensure that Digicon carries the incredible accomplishments of Mr. Watson into the future.

Wayne Watson is past National President and Life Member of Construction Specifications Canada (CSC) and past President of International Construction Information Society (ICIS), an organization comprised of construction information companies from many countries in 4 continents.
